Book Fair in Torotoro: A Close Encounter with Bolivian Literature
On Friday, November 28, 2025, the municipality of Torotoro experienced a special day dedicated to reading and engaging with national literature thanks to the Book Fair, a cultural event that brought together prominent Bolivian authors and numerous students, readers, and families from the region.
The fair took place over two days, allowing books to reach diverse audiences. In the morning, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., activities were held at the Mariscal Sucre Educational Unit, where students and teachers had the opportunity to interact directly with the authors. Book presentations and reading sessions were held at this educational space, sparking the curiosity and enthusiasm of young people for literature.
In the afternoon, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the fair moved to the area outside the city's Central Market, transforming this busy space into a cultural meeting point open to the entire community. Locals, visitors, and shopkeepers had the opportunity to meet the authors, discover new stories, and purchase signed copies of their books.
The protagonists of this initiative were Bolivian writers Róger Aguirre (Potosí), Marco Muñoz (Santa Cruz), Rosa Vásquez (La Paz), and Efrain Muyuriko (Cochabamba), who presented their works, shared their experiences as creators, and signed autographs for readers. The presence of authors from different regions of the country showcased the diversity of voices and styles that enrich Bolivian literature.
Beyond selling books, the fair became a space for dialogue and inspiration for students, who were able to hear firsthand how stories are born, what the challenges of writing are, and why reading remains a fundamental tool for learning and personal growth.
This event was made possible thanks to the initiative of the authors themselves and the invaluable support of the Torotoro District Education Office, the Mariscal Sucre Educational Unit, and the Torotoro Municipal Government, institutions that provided all the necessary logistical support to bring this book fair to fruition.
Events like this strengthen the book culture in communities and demonstrate that, even in places far from major cities, literature can become a bridge for connection, inspiration, and learning for children, young people, and adults. The Torotoro Book Fair thus left a positive mark on the community and reaffirmed the importance of continuing to promote spaces where books and their authors can connect with new readers.
