Strategy, Fun and Learning: Chess Workshop at "La Petite Bibliothèque"
From 7 to 16 January, "La Petite Bibliothèque" was the setting for an exciting chess workshop aimed at children aged 7 to 12. For six days, participants immersed themselves in the fascinating world of the science game, learning strategies, developing their logical thinking and enjoying a unique experience that combined learning and fun.
The workshop, designed especially for curious young minds, included the analysis of iconic games by great chess celebrities, such as Bobby Fischer, Garry Kasparov and Magnus Carlsen. These sessions allowed children to understand how winning strategies are built and how each move on the board can make the difference between victory and defeat. Participants not only learned how to play better, but also explored fundamental chess values, such as patience, concentration and respect for the opponent.
One of the highlights of the workshop was the screening of an exclusive video sent by Javi Tamayo, Master of the International Chess Federation. In his message, Javi shared valuable practical advice to improve the game, as well as words of motivation that inspired the young chess players to continue practicing and perfecting their skills. This generous gesture was deeply appreciated by all participants, who enthusiastically received the teachings of the renowned master.
The sessions not only focused on theory, but also included dynamic activities, such as mini-tournaments and team challenges, where the children were able to apply what they had learned in an environment of healthy competition. These dynamics encouraged collaboration, critical thinking and the development of social skills, making the workshop a comprehensive and enriching experience.
At the conclusion of the workshop, the young participants not only took away a deeper knowledge of chess, but also a new appreciation for the game as a tool for learning and personal development. Furthermore, the workshop reinforced the commitment of "La Petite Bibliothèque" to be a space for the intellectual and cultural growth of the children of the community.
The passion and enthusiasm shown by the participants confirmed that chess is not just a game, but a way of thinking, learning and having fun. This workshop not only left its mark on the children, but also on all those who were part of this unforgettable experience.
