Little Readers in Action: Reading Workshop at the Petite Bibliothèque
From the 9th to the 17th of this month, the “Petite Bibliothèque” was the setting for a small reading support workshop aimed at children aged 5 to 8. During those days, the space was transformed into a meeting point where children became protagonists, actively participating in activities that sparked their interest in books and reading.
The workshop was designed to encourage the habit of reading in a playful and participatory way. The children immersed themselves in games with syllables, explored stories and developed their oral comprehension and expression skills, creating an emotional bond with books. Each session was designed so that the little ones could learn by playing, which made the experience educational and fun at the same time.
When concentration waned, the children had the opportunity to relax with games that allowed them to clear their minds and recharge their energy. This combination of dynamic activities and rest periods was essential to maintain their interest and motivation throughout the workshop days.
One of the highlights was the way in which the children were able to take an active part in the stories they read. Not only did they listen to stories, but they also got involved in the narration, creating alternative endings, dramatizing scenes and contributing their own ideas. This not only reinforced their understanding, but also stimulated their creativity and critical thinking.
The “Petite Bibliothèque”, a space that the Kreskanta Foundation offers for free access to reading and internet use, reaffirmed with this workshop its commitment to promoting education in the community. The children who participated not only strengthened their reading skills, but also learned to enjoy the experience of reading in a safe and friendly environment.
This workshop is just the beginning of a series of initiatives that seek to make reading an accessible and exciting adventure for all children, especially in places with limited resources. By facilitating these activities, the Kreskanta Foundation reaffirms its commitment to bringing education and culture to the most remote corners, creating opportunities for young people to become passionate readers and agents of change in their community.
