International Human Solidarity Day: A Fundamental Value for a Just World
Every year on December 20, humanity celebrates the International Human Solidarity Day, a date proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution 60/209 of December 22, 2005. This day not only underlines the importance of solidarity as a universal value, but also invites us to reflect on our collective responsibility to build a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable world.
At the Kreskanta Foundation, solidarity is not only an ideal, but the cornerstone of our actions. Since our creation, we have worked tirelessly to be able to bring educational and cultural resources to remote communities in Bolivia, places where access to knowledge often seems like an unattainable dream. We are convinced that reading and education are fundamental pillars for human development, and that only through solidarity can we overcome the barriers of inequality that still persist in the world.
Solidarity reminds us that we are all interconnected and that the well-being of one depends on the well-being of all. In this context, our initiatives seek to generate a transformative impact in communities that, despite their challenges, show a deep desire for learning and improvement. Every book we deliver, every reading space we create, is the result of a collective effort: donors, volunteers and allies work together to make this mission possible.
The International Day of Human Solidarity motivates us to continue building bridges between different sectors of society, highlighting that joint work is essential to confront global problems such as poverty, lack of access to education and social exclusion. In addition, it reaffirms our commitment to the values of equity, justice and dignity for all.
From Kreskanta, we call on all individuals, organizations and communities to join this cause. Solidarity is not only about giving, but about sharing, understanding and acting for the benefit of others. Together, we can continue to bring knowledge, hope and development to the places that need it most, showing that through solidarity, it is possible to transform lives and build a brighter future.
