A Reading Corner Embracing Dreams in Ovejería

Reaching the community of Ovejería is not just traveling a road; it's getting closer to realities where every opportunity counts, where a book can mean so much more than paper and ink. On this occasion, we had the joy of delivering a reading corner to the community's school, a small space in size, but immense in possibilities.

From the very first moment, their curious eyes scanned the books, their hands carefully opened them, and little by little, the silence of the classroom transformed into voices reading aloud, sharing stories, imagining worlds, and discovering new ways of seeing life. In those moments, a profound truth became palpable: reading not only teaches, it also awakens, accompanies, and transforms.

As Jorge Luis Borges said: “One is not what one is because of what one writes, but because of what one has read.” This phrase takes on special meaning in communities like Ovejería, where every book that arrives opens a door to knowledge, creativity, and hope.

This reading corner is part of an effort to bring books to the most remote communities, with the firm conviction that access to reading should be a right, not a privilege. Because when a child discovers the joy of reading, they also discover that their world can be bigger than they imagined.

On this occasion, we have the invaluable support of the Torotoro District Education Office, whose commitment to education makes it possible for these initiatives to reach more students. Their presence in the community not only strengthens our collaborative work but also reaffirms the importance of continuing to build educational opportunities in a coordinated manner.

We would especially like to express our deep gratitude to Torotoro National Park. Their support was fundamental in reaching the community, overcoming access challenges and demonstrating, once again, their constant willingness to support activities that benefit children and education. Without their collaboration, this encounter with books would not have been possible.

The creation of this reading corner is not an isolated event; it is part of a dream that is being woven little by little, community by community, book by book. It is an investment in the future, in children's imaginations, in their capacity to dream and build a different tomorrow.

As we said goodbye, smiles remained, along with open pages and the certainty that, in Ovejería, books have begun to take root.
